As an adult learner, no one is going to beg you to turn in your homework each day. You must pace yourself and you must find ways to study that will make the vocabulary and usage stick with you. You may be tempted to rush ahead because the actual act of completing a lesson isn't so difficult, but it is better to take your time and really learn each lesson before moving on. There are many ways to learn. There are things that help you learn that don't really help others and vice versa. Here is a list of a few ideas in an order that might familiarize and eventually get lessons to begin to turn into language.
Read and listen to the lesson just to get your feet wet.
Read, listen and repeat the words you hear.
Read the words out loud in Irish and in English without the aid of the sound files.
Write the vocabulary, speak it aloud as you go.
Write the lessons and answers. Write everything in the most complete sentences possible.
Read the lessons and answers you have written several times.
Try to translate from Irish to English and English to Irish without reading the answer. To do this you may read the lessons without the answers.
Make flash cards for the vocabulary.
Label things around your house.
Use words and phrases anytime you can even in the middle of an English sentence.
Listen to the sound files without looking at the lesson, repeat the words or phrases, translate them in your head.
Review the week's lesson at least once a day. Look over the vocabulary, run through the flash cards or listen to the sound files. Any little activity is better than none.
